Why Kratom Realy Works
Before using any kratom product, it’s nice to know how it functions and why it has the effect that it has. While many believe in the power of kratom, not everyone is aware of what makes it so useful, which is why we’re about to get a little scientific here and dive into the biomechanics of how kratom works in the brain.
The active alkaloid compounds that give kratom its effects are called mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. By attaching to the brain’s opioid receptors, kratom is able to reduce the pain levels that reach the brain in a way that’s very similar to opioid drugs. This is why some addicts turn to kratom as a means of treating their opioid addiction.
Additionally, the interaction of kratom’s compounds and the brain’s receptors can influence parts of the brain that regulate one’s emotions. Mitragynine travels to other receptors in the brain to produce feelings of sedation and pleasure, and also leaves users more alert and sociable.
Mitragynine, a significant component of what makes kratom work so well, is known for its ability to reduce anxiety and pain. However, kratom use can affect its user one of two ways. When taken in smaller doses, kratom can act as a stimulant, leaving one more energized. In larger doses, kratom (and its active alkaloid compounds), takes on more sedative properties.
